Blog May 2022

Week 23rd-27th May 2022

This week we have been bringing our writing to life by acting out some of the scenes from 'Song of the Sea'. The children loved taking on the role of May finding the unusual shell and the magical key.

Laudato Si Day was a wonderful day. We planted out the rest of our vegetables and salad seeds and some beautiful flowers in our outside area. We worked with Mrs Bentley to create an amazing plastic sculpture and new mural with our new eco code. We ended the day with the Sustainable Palm Oil conga outside. We really enjoyed a fantastic day in the sunshine.

Here are some photos of us in action.

Week 16th-20th May

This week  we have been sowing seeds on our cress heads and hope they will grow glossy green curls in the next week or so. We also planted vegetables and salad leaf seeds to grow our own in our mini propagators. Hopefully we will be able to harvest them before the end of the summer term.

In ICT we have been using fruit and vegetable images to create a portrait on purple mash in the style of the Italian artist - Arcimboldo.

Week 9th-13th May 2022

This week we have been getting to grips with 'equal groups (multiplying) and sharing into equal groups (dividing) in maths and we're doing lots of counting in 2s, 5s and 10s to find totals.

We have been writing our own set of instructions 'how to make a wish' in English and conducting a fair test in science to find out if cress seeds will grow on sand, soil, kitchen roll and cotton wool and we were really surprised by the results.

We are enjoying our learning about the Tolpuddle Martyrs in History and the next step is to start a drama about their story.

Our finished cress head pots look amazing!

Week 2nd-6th May 2022

In English we have been writing instructions - 'How to make a cress head' and we made them on Friday, we will be growing our cress in class and we'll send them home when the hair has grown.

In RE we learned about Pentecost and how the disciples felt before and after the Holy Spirit came.
