May 2023

Week 22nd-26th May 2023
We have had a great week. We have been busy writing rules for the swimming pool and for the beach. We have been dissecting a flower in science to identify the different parts of a mature plant and see how they reproduce.
We rounded off a great week creating our architectural designs in Art. We really enjoyed making our buildings out of cardboard. What a creative class! We made such fantastic models.
Week 15th-19th May 2023
This week we have been working hard on our reading comprehension and writing some fabulous poetry about being in charge of the... school, world or being a superhero or peacemaker! Year 2 were thinking of some fantastic ideas for their poetry which they put into action.
We have been discovering how landforms like Durdle Door and Old Harry's Rocks are formed in Geography and we've started a new unit in RE about forgiveness and why it is important to have rules.
We have been celebrating our friendship with an ice lolly and kind words we have written to say goodbye to a classmate who is leaving Year 2. This was a lovely way to round off a busy and fun week.
Week 8th-12th May
This week we have been using the composing tool on 'Charanga' to add patterns of notes to complement the main theme of the song 'Friendship' we have been learning.
In ICT we have been creating our own compositions around the tune of 'Twinkle Twinkle Little Star' using a variety of different instruments. We have been also using headphones!
In RE we have been enjoying creating artwork using pastels around the theme of Pentecost and the symbol of the dove.
Week 1st-5th May
We had a great music lesson playing our glockenspiels to the 'Friendship' song we have been learning this half term. We have picked up the accompaniment really confidently and are really good at keeping in time with the music.
We finished the week with a fantastic Coronation celebration. We made crowns and Coronation themed activities, and had a fantastic lunch together.
We had a great day!
