January 2023

Week 30th January- 3rd February 2023

This week we have been writing a set of instructions in English. We made Bug Hotels in Forest School and, remembering the steps to make one, wrote our own set of instructions independently following 'The Write Stuff' shapes for instructions writing.

We hung our bird feeders for our feathered friends. Just in time for this cold snap when they need a bit of extra energy.

In Art we have been learning how to monoprint. We used a paint layer and drawing an object created a simple monoprint. We really enjoyed seeing the results.

Week 16th-20th January 2023

This week we have been learning about the suitability of materials in science. We decided a jumper made of glass and a table made of paper would not be very suitable materials!

In Geography we have been learning about weather patterns and a couple of the children stepped up to be our weather presenters, describing the weather across the British Isles on the big screen.

We are learning about mono printing in Art and in preparation for the printing process we have been sketching large images - stills from wildlife films, and small objects. We really enjoy this quiet time to draw.

We started to make bird feeders in Forest School and will continue to make hanging fat balls for the birds this week. They will be glad of the food in this cold weather.

We were really impressed by the fantastic bird feeders Max and Clemmie had made at home.

Week 9th-13th January 2023

What a great week!

We wrote fantastic instructions on how to use our 'Trick Box' tricks to help us keep calm and positive and we had a really good discussion about emotions and how we resolve problems we have with our friends in PSHE.

In PE we were becoming the animals in the jungle from the stimulus 'The Jungle Book'. We were gathering ideas for a dance piece we will be rehearsing and performing this term. Here we are in action!
