Dear parent,
I hope you had a wonderful half term with your families.
Here’s the home learning for this week. The plan is, as always, a guide and needs to fit in around your day at home. See the follow-on tasks for extra challenges!
This week I’ve put on three different fitness activities for you to choose from - Go noodle dance workouts, Joe Wicks PE and Cosmic Yoga.
Phonics
As before, watch Mrs Hunns phonics video each day - click onto the link to her youtube video. Then log onto purple mash using your login details. Do the 2do spelling quiz each day as a follow on activity, focusing on the sound you have just learnt.
Guided Reading
There are new RWI guided reading books for you this week. Over the week read them 3 times, starting with the speed sounds, green words, red words and then the text. Then answer the questions to talk about.
Maths
This week the white rose learning revisits addition, subtraction and number comparisons. As before click onto the blue link on the plan, which will take you to the White Rose home learning website. Week 4 lessons 1-4 Monday to Thursday and Week 5 lesson 1 on Friday. Watch the video. After this, print out and complete the activity sheet or answer in your work book, then mark your work by referring to the answer sheet. During the week have a look at the reasoning slides. This week they are linked to the maths learning on fractions, they are on a PDF below. Try to have a go at one each day.

SCIENCE
This week we are starting to learn about the life cycle of a butterfly. Watch the video to see how a butterfly transforms from a caterpillar. Then log onto purple mash and complete the 2do - The Life Cycle of a Butterfly. Describe what happens in the life cycle of a butterfly.
PSHE/GEOGRAPHY
Find out about another child in the world. Watch the BBC clip about Nana who lives in Kenya. Write down how her day is similar to your day? What things were different? What questions would you like to ask Nana? See the PDF - Nana’s day in Kenya.
RE
Watch the story about Mother Theresa. We called the disciples witnesses to the Holy Spirit. Why do you think we call Mother Theresa a witness of Jesus? Draw a picture or write a prayer about Mother Theresa’s kindness and love for others. See the blank or lined PDF - Mother Theresa.
ART
Draw, colour and cut out - a leaf, an egg, a caterpillar, a cocoon & a butterfly to use in the loopy lifter game on Friday.
DT/SCIENCE
Watch the video of Maddie and Greg.Then make your own loopy lifter? Use your pictures of an egg, a caterpillar, a cocoon and a butterfly to lift with your leaf hook.
Super challenge - could you collect them in the order of the life cycle?
FOLLOW ON ACTIVITIES
PHONICS
Choose 3 words from the spelling quiz and write a sentence for each.
SPELLING & HANDWRITING
Choose a few new words each day and practice writing them by starting and finishing in the right place. If you’re not sure where they start and finish, have a look at the letter formation sheets to help you. Can you challenge yourself to spell them without looking? Super challenge - can you write them into a sentence in joined up handwriting?
