Blog September 2016

9th September 2016

Hello to all year 3 parents and carers.

Wow, what a first week!

We welcome two new children to our class, Hana and Alfred who have settled in well.

It is always hard for the children when we have a full week back after having been off for the 6 week holiday but the children have been brilliant.

I have loved getting to know them this week and they seemed to have taken to my craziness well. ☺

I am sure they are very tired and you, as parents, must remember that they no longer have an afternoon break in Key Stage 2 so they will be extra tired having worked the whole afternoon.

We have had an exciting week in English and have begun to write our own newspaper reports based on some very mysterious flying frogs from the book Tuesday by David Wiesner. I look forward to sharing them with you at the end of next week.

We have also made a start on our Science by investigating what we know about Humans and animals. The children asked some very thoughtful questions about the things they would like to know too.

Our topic, which involves History and Geography, this term is Invaders and Settlers and we will be looking at the lives of these people from our history. We will also be taking a trip to New Barn Field Centre as part of this topic and look forward to all the fabulous activities and adventures that they offer there.

Have a relaxed and happy weekend and I look forward to seeing you all, bright and breezy on Monday morning.

Another productive week. ☺

Most of the children are beginning to settle into our routine. Well done guys. I’m really proud of you.

We continue on our new maths journey which is going well and the children appear to be excited about their maths which is always a good thing. ☺

We have begun to look at poetry and hope to arrange a morning, in the next few weeks, when we will invite parents and carers in to hear some poetry recitals over a cup of coffee.

The children were encouraged to find a poem in a book and recite it to the class. Indy thought the poem read by Amelia was really funny.

The children have been very engaged with our RE theme of creation and have interested to share their stories and knowledge of baptisms and christenings.

Have a safe weekend.
