Blog October 2019

Week 7th-11th October 2019
Year 1 have been testing materials to see which ones will float or sink in science this week with Mr Cheeseman.
We have been starting to write an apology letter to the billy goats from the troll and we have been adding using a part/whole frame and a number line in maths.
In humanities we have been looking at the history of our school and the changes in the buildings since it was built in the 1960s.
In DT next week we will be making bridges, linking with the three billy goats gruff.  We have been planning this in class. We need some more materials for this project, so if you have some recycling for us, e.g. cardboard, plastic tubs or any other items that you might think would be useful to us, then please bring them in on Monday.
Don't forget it's Forest School on Monday, so please bring your kit and one more helper for the session would be fantastic!
Please keep bringing in a waterproof coat every day as the weather has been sunny and rainy!
I would really appreciate if all homework books were returned by Tuesday, as it saves a lot of time chasing missing books.
The piggy houses look amazing! Regan shared his creation with us today and we're looking forward to seeing the others next week!
Week 14th-18th October 2019
We braved the rain on Monday to have our Forest School session. The children enjoyed weaving willow and threading bay leaves, which they have now become real experts at! We also did a hunt to find natural objects that float and sink.
The children have been presenting their amazing piggy houses.  Talking about how they have been made and why they chose the materials used. They really are fantastic!
Thank you again to Mrs Heyward and Mrs Armstrong who helped at Forest School on Monday. We do need parent helpers to make these sessions possible. It would be great to have a rota for after half term, so please see me if you can help.  It will be every other Monday. Many thanks!
