Blog March 2022

Week 28th March-1st April 2022

The children loved their science day with Betty Boffin on Friday. They won the challenge of building the tallest structure that could hold an egg and loved making a hovercraft. The assembly was fun; showing giant bubbles!

Week 14th-18th March 2022

The children enjoyed pretending to be smugglers looking for coves and suitable places to hide contraband. They used the key on the ordnance survey maps to avoid busy places and selected a location for the contraband with a justification.

We are loving the new interactive screen in the classroom; using it to explain methods used in maths to friends and to enter multiplication statements quickly.

In ICT the children learned to control a turtle using commands in Logo. The activity is set on Purple Mash so that they can practise.

In PE the children are honing their football skills - it’s all about control!

Week 7th-11th March 2022

Year 4 have had another exciting week.

In PE, they have been working as a team to build human pyramids.

In English they have reached the end of their newspaper writing unit.

In science they had a wonderful trip to the Corn Exchange to see Luke Jerram’s sculpture of Mars and in music they have been composing a piece of music for a collaborative summer performance.

Week 1st-4th March 2022

Year 4 celebrated world book day and diversity in style this week. On Wednesday they headed to Waterstones and had a “character hunt” alongside a story reading and a tour.

On Thursday the children took part in an inclusive collaborative write, a Michael Rosen workshop and
“locate the word” activity using a world map. Thank you for your support with this. The children loved it and displayed a good understanding of the world around them.
