Blog March 2019
Week 4th-8th March 2019
We have had a really exciting Literacy week.
The costumes were amazing on Monday! The children have had a great week. We were visited by Owen from Waterstones who read to our class and gave each child a book to take home.
We have been writing as Dorothy travelling to Oz through the whirling tornado to meet with three new friends - the Scarecrow, Tin Man and Lion. The children have been writing their own travel journal. On Thursday we focused on poetry, reciting a poem about the Ruby Slippers and then writing our own version of it.
We are going to carry on the Wizard of Oz theme this half term, next stop - the Emerald City!
In maths we have been continuing to measure and compare lengths. We have also been investigating doubling and halving using uniblocks. The homework this week is to continue this investigation at home.
The children received their ashes during our Liturgy with Fr Barry for the start of Lent on Wednesday. They have written their lenten promises and we will add them to our RE tree. We are also planning to fundraise for Mary's Meals backpack appeal at the end of March.
In our Forest School session lead by Mrs Coffin we were making dens, planting Willow and making clay mini beasts. We braved the wild March wind and rain!
From Monday we are going to be changing home reading books twice a week, on a Monday and Thursday. Please see the note in the school bag.
We hope you enjoy seeing some of the pictures of our week.
